Luke Elwes was born in London in 1961, but spent his early years in Teheran, Persia. He studied history and history of art at university before going on to Camberwell School of Art. His journeys form the basis of his solo exhibitions.
Since 1984 he has participated in various group exhibitions in London, Paris and New York. He also writes about contemporary art for journals including Modern Painters, Royal Academy Magazine and Galleries Magazine.
