Art First is proud and delighted to announce the first London solo exhibition since 1996, for the eminent abstract artist Jennifer Durrant RA (elected 1994). Examples of her previous large-scale canvases have been extensively exhibited in the UK and the US throughout her career since appearing as a prizewinner in the Young Contemporaries in 1966. Works are held in the permanent collection at Tate and at other major UK public institutions as well as many in the corporate field.

Since re-locating to Umbria in 2000, Durrant has produced a major body of acrylic and canvas pieces which respond to new lyrical influences and continue the exacting process of colour/form juxtaposition which has
consistently governed the work. The series Last Conversations continue from the most recent large format works, intimate in scale they refer
immediately to some exotic patternism and then the rigour of Durrant's positioning and selection realises focussed compositions. Uccelli present as colour essays, partly triggered by birdsong around the new studio environment.

This recent survey will include a just completed series of medium-format panels and a wall size work from the extraordinary recent series Come Home by Weeping Cross.

The illustrated catalogue is no longer available, but please click here to read the accompanying essay written by the critic, William Packer.
