an interest in meta physics, both are serious readers, both have remained true

                  to their sensibilities over decades, sustaining an intense focus on their subject
                  matter in whatever varied scales and mediums they have worked, neither has been

                  swayed by fashion or the marketplace, each maintains a consis tent inner voice . . .

                  and the list could go on for some while, yet their characters and their art, and

                  the tex ture of their lives embody great contrasts. ey do not oen meet but

                  they have exchanged works and they regard one another highly. e nexus for

                  them is Art First. e role which the gallery plays in their lives is a subject woven

                  into the recordings, another tale of longevity and of the extra ordinary care and
                  attention provided by three dedi cated gallerists, Clare Cooper, Benjamin Rhodes

                  and Matt Incledon.




                  Charting a Decade II (    –    ) marks the tenth anniversary of an earlier

                  exhibition shared by Lewty and Maclean. At that juncture, Maclean’s recording

                  had just ended and Lewty’s was still underway; both spoke of work they intended

                  to make in the future. e current exhibition will allow us to see what they did.
